Modafinil is a prescription medication used to promote wakefulness in individuals with sleep disorders such as narcolepsy, obstructive sleep apnea, and shift work sleep disorder. It works by stimulating the brain to increase alertness and reduce excessive daytime sleepiness. To take Modafinil, follow your healthcare provider's instructions precisely. Typically, it is taken once daily in the morning for narcolepsy or obstructive sleep apnea, or an hour before the start of a work shift for shift work sleep disorder.
