Just as not all foreshadowing is CGI, not all CGI is real guns. In Jaws, when Brody unties and drops his scuba gear onto the deck, Hooper yells, "This is compressed air—if you're not careful, it's going to explode!" At that point, it was supposed to explode at some point.
