Troubleshooting Dps Perception Board, all DPS veterans please help!

I know that that's not a Perception forum but I'm looking for help so excuse me asking about a discontinued product and not posting in russian (I can understand but not write in russian).

I have an old Perception board to use at home for SpeedRazor / DFusion with a 9gig SCSI drive. A couple of months ago I upgraded my motherboard and yesterday I plugged the board in and installed the drivers. All I got from it is a message in system log "Failed to translate ROMAddress.". There are no IRQ conflicts and I don't know what to do. I tried swithching IRQs, plugging into different pci slots - nothing. The only time it actually started was when I tried an old pci graphic card in one of the slots but when I unplugged the vga it didn't want start. Later when I plugged it back it also didn't want to start.

So I'm asking Perception veterans here for help - what should I check? Any ideas? I did some searh on the internet and found that this problem occured to some other people but noone said what can be the fix.

I'm running Windows XP Pro on an Epox 8RDA+ (NForce2) board with AthlonXP 2400+ CPU.

Думаю, проблема в материнской плате...

Пользуем Perception под WinXP Pro sp2 - никаких проблем. Но cpu - Intel.

Надеюсь, для DPS взял последние драйвера и фикс для Win2k/XP?

 

Thanks for your reply! Yes, I installed the 2.61 patch for 2k. The stupid thing is that I used the same perception under XP in my previous motherboard wich was also with NForce2 chipset and it worked like a charm so it shouldn't be the motherboard. I'm with SP2 now I wonder if it's worth it to try with SP1.

 

BIOS для материнской платы свежий? Драйвера для материнской платы установил?

Попробуй переставить систему с sp1, проверить, потом обновить до sp2 - если перестанет работать, не пользуйся sp2.....

Попробуй написать в Leitch, люди там дружелюбные (говорят) - может, они помогут...

Больше предложить нечего - у меня другая конфигурация...

 

BIOS is the most current available, tried SP1 and SP2 - it's all the same. All drivers are most current and installed in the right order. DPS doesn't support this old board anymore but I can try to mail them.

A guy on the newsgroups said that the PVR is not ACPI compatible and doesn't support concurrent addressing. I tried with non-ACPI installation of XP but no luck. I don't know what concurrent addressing means.

 

По-моему, проблема в EPOXe. У них с БИОСами явно не лады.

Недавно столкнулся с подобной проблемой (EPOX 8RDA3+Pro and FastTrack TX2000), материнка не запускалась. В техподдержке сразу признали существующую проблему, ответили, что в БИОСе матери происходит неправильная адресация, посоветовали обновить БИОСы у обоих плат. Не помогло.
На других компьютерах, под Intel (ASUS), плата работала.

А какая материнка была раньше?

 

IMHO, если машина для работы - лучше поменять матплату по гарантии (если есть такая возможность), объяснив несовместимость матплаты с другим, более важным оборудованием. Теоретически, продавец может пойти навстречу...

Насколько я помню, для DPS-железа у нас бывали матплаты от Asus, MSI, Gigabyte... Никаких нареканий.

Про ACPI - not ACPI спрошу, но думаю никто ничего не подскажет...

It was an ASUS A7N8x Deluxe but it got damaged and I replaced it with the Epox.

Эту проблему удавалось решить путем замены ядра винды на НЕ поддерживающее ACPI. При этом DPS-ка начинает работать нормально, но, увы, выключать питание надо будет вручную.

У меня параллельно вопрос. Мне очень нужен программный кодек для этой платы. Кажется он назывался SoftPerception. Мне нужен такой кодек, который позволил бы СОЗДАВАТЬ PVD-файлы без платы.
Может знаете, где такой взять?

 

Михаил, поезд этого кодека давно ушёл... Сейчас можно купить б/у Perception за 350~500 вечнозелёных, ИМХО, иначе - никак.
